Tallgrass
Tallgrass is the latest luxury home community for Michael J. Graft Builder. Tallgrass is a 109 acre development located in
the beautiful countryside of Lake Barrington, Illinois. Destined to be the gem of Barrington luxury home communities, Tallgrass
will be highly sought after for its natural setting and dedication to preserving and enhancing the landscape of the area.
Located at the intersections of Kelsey, Miller and River Roads in Lake Barrington, the gated community features 71 home sites
available from one to three acres. Natural topography and abundant landscaping
allows for a beautiful presentation to these
custom luxury homes. Home and site packages begin at
$1.1 million.
An extraordinary effort has been made to insure that the natural features of this land are unaffected and the protection of
plants and animals living in the nearby nature preserve is an ongoing endeavor. A comprehensive tree preservation and transplant
plan has been put into place which includes the planting of over 800 total new trees, including 108 random oak trees for a
re-forestation effort and a naturalized appearance.
The 109 acre property is surrounded by an eight foot, undulating berm, planted with native Illinois prairie grasses,
wildflowers and hundreds of high quality trees such as Red Sunset Maples, Heritage River Birch, Austrian Pine
and Spruce. Ornamental trees and shrubs will provide additional multi-seasonal interest.
Native plants and over 11,500 square yards of prairie grass will reinforce the rural character of the community. To further
enhance the Tallgrass exterior landscape plan, the berm will be topped with an undulating cobblestone wall to create old
world charm and ambiance.
The Quintessential Barrington Magazine states, "From an aesthetic and community appearance
standpoint, the proposed landscape plan for the Tallgrass subdivision is outstanding. This kind of high quality landscape
plan should serve as a model for future residential development across Northern Illinois."
